CDHI strives to take medical services (free medical examination and low cost treatment) close to communities in a bid to reduce the distance patients need to cover in accessing specialized, quality and effective medical services there by lowering the disease burden and improving on healthcare seeking behavior in communities we serve.

CDHI, in its integrated medical thematic area is an initiative designed that provides user/pocket friendly specialized medical-care services to communities in our operation area and these include; Ultrasound scanning; Laboratory examinations; Case management; Counseling and testing for HIV; Family planning services; Dental care; Dental care and community Eye care programmes

MAJOR ACTIVITIES

Ultrasound scanning including

Obstetrics, gynecology and general medical scans. This diagnostic protocol happens to be the favorite for most healthcare seekers and greatly influences their healthcare seeking habits. Our experience shows that this diagnostic protocol is more admirable to patients and what is included in their disease investigatory plans if given choice. Often times they spend for ultrasound scanning even when it's not a right procedure for their conditions. CDHI tries to strike a balance in this form of psychological treatment while observing rightful investigatory protocols

Laboratory diagnosis including, but not limited to;
Urinalysis, stool analysis, malaria tests, hepatitis B, Widal, RPR, H-pylori, HB estimation, Pregnancy test, Blood grouping, Rheumatoid factor, sickle cell test, Random blood sugar test, and HIV testing

Dental Care component
Community dental care has been incorporated into the routine field activities. CDHI plans to recruit more public health dental assistants to cover all field clinics in our area of operation

  2. Resources for Health Professionals - developing monographs, white papers, literature reviews, research articles and developing continuing education programs

Community health pooling (Village Savings for Health - VSH)

This initiative is being tested for feasibility and sustainability for possible replication if successful. Rules of procedure and amount to be to remitted weekly, including fines are set by the savings groups. Small interest loans are also given out, basing on recommendations of the group.

Livelihoods and Food Security Programme.

CDHI-Uganda has set up a livelihood and food security programme for groups of elderly persons in consultation with local communities around the treatment centers. Livelihood activities include but not limited to goat rearing, piggery, poultry keeping. This is aimed at securing treatment cover for elderly persons in times of ill health

SOROTI UGANDA

CDHI is a health care initiative developed out of experiences gathered in the medical field during our medical practice both in government and private settings. The inherent community setbacks like illiteracy, low income levels of families, lack of health care savings at local levels, coupled with corruption at various levels of the government health sector, ill-equipped and understaffed health centers all contribute to poor health seeking behavior among the local population and hence poor quality of health in communities.
